This semi abstract plein air study of Oriental poppies explores the jewel like quality of these sumptuous blooms. I studied these flowers from life to capture the way in which the flowers unwrap them selves from their pods. At first appearing angular and crumpled, before stretching out in the sun to become polished rubies.
